Tracker Settings
Updated settings for the 2008 MS Bike Ride, trackers
should be setup as follows.
Please note there are significant
changes this year... please be sure to check your tracker settings prior to
the event.
We will NOT be assigning tactical call signs directly to trackers this year. Net Control will only need to know what call sign and SSID are installed in each of the vehicles, and that vehicle designation. We hope this will speed up deployment of trackers at the staging area each morning by allowing the installers to just place the trackers in the vehicles and not having to take the time to reprogram any of them. Net Control will use aliasing to rename trackers via our tracking software.
If you are using your own tracker in your SAG, supply truck or medical vehicle, please set the appropriate icon. Otherwise, please use the v/ icon for the van since most trackers will be in the SAGs.
Please be
sure that you assign each tracker you bring to the event a separate SSID
with your call sign… If you have any questions on this change to tracker settings, please feel free to contact us!
Callsign = your FCC assigned call sign including a unique SSID
Path = WIDE1-1, WIDE2-2
Beacon Rate = 2 minutes (or as close as you can get it to 2 minutes)
SmartBeacon = OFF
Status text = "MS Bike Ride "
Status transmit rate = every 3rd or 4th transmission
Tracker output power should be 5 watts. The APRS network for the event is being configured to cover the routes with trackers at 5 watts so please try to get your tracker as close to 5 watts output as you can.
Also, please try your trackers out on 144.390MHz on Thursday or Friday to see that they are working properly, and NCS can see them as well.
