Node 3118 is running on a Pentium III 933MHz
computer with 128 MB of memory. It originally ran Fedora Core 3 Linux, but has been recently upgraded to CentOS 4.4 and uses
the IRLP Version 3 interface board. The LINUX version installed was customized to be lightweight and only has those packages necessary for the operation of the node and its accessories. The current radio is a Motorola M10
interfaced directly to the IRLP card and computer. There are some
pictures of the node here...
Currently 3118 is a simplex node, and it operates on 445.900 MHz with a PL of 127.3 on the input and output both. Please
note that you must transmit PL to get into the IRLP node. This is done
to reduce the possibility of an inadvertent local signal tying up a reflector
or another IRLP node when connected. It is located west of Midway, and may not be accessible from the Columbia area. It is mainly used for testing of software and connectivity, so may be up and down frequently as I do testing etc. There are no special codes needed to access this IRLP node. Just key up, enter the 4 digit node or refelector number and unkey. If the node responds, its online and operational... if it doesnt, it may be down, or you may not be getting to it.
